The silly side of the silly season
This December, the Old Bus Depot Markets will play host to some of the region’s most talented designers and their Christmas wares, and this includes Julie and Jeff Donne.
The couple have taken the idea of traditional Christmas cards and completely turned it on its head. In fact card designer, Jeff, describes the cards as ‘grumpy Christmas cards’. But don’t be fooled into thinking they’re against Christmas, in fact, it’s the very spirit of these uniquely designed cards that have people embracing the ‘silly’ side of things this silly season. In essence, these cards don’t take themselves too seriously and are perfect for those of you looking for a laugh.
Featuring designs such as a turkey taking a flame thrower to Santa, accompanied by clever captions, the cards flew off the shelves in the designer’s home town in Tasmania. And as a result of a recent move to the mainland, we’re lucky enough to have the cards at the Old Bus Depot Markets. There is also a local aspect to the business; Jeff and Julie are always sure to have their cards printed by local businesses in order to support the local economy, and they also use recycled materials.
