Market Entertainment: April 2019

After a bustling Super Sunday and an exciting Retro Depot, which also happened to coincide with St Patrick’s Day and saw Tir an Oir Irish Dancing, we get some well needed relief from the heat. Autumn is here at last. And with friendlier sunlight and several shaded areas, it might be an even better season to visit the Markets.

We’ll make sure of that. Portobello Road on Easter Sunday on 21 April will be a great day out for families to scavenge through a range of high-quality antiques. Rebecca Mann and the Gregory Irish Dancers will play at the event which should make for quite a show. Also, be sure to see Niq Reefman when he performs live a week earlier on 14 April because his performances are simply captivating. Get ready for a fun time of music and storytelling.

Niq Reefman

Niq Reefman is a one-man-musical. His music truly stands out in 2019 with striking lyrics and zany yet arresting melody. Expect elements of storytelling, jazz, folk, and electronic music. Niq also plays a combo of instruments outside the norm of mainstream music, utilising an accordion and a trumpet. Learn more about Niq and his unique sound by visiting his website www.niqreefman.com.au

Gregory Irish Dancers

The Gregory Academy of Irish Dance is Canberra’s Northside Irish dance school established in 1983. They have quite a relatively large academy with dancers that range from beginners to professional competitors on the world stage. It will be their fist time at the Markets on 21 April and they’re poised to put on quite a show. Learn more about their academy at www.gregoryacademyirishdance.com

Rebecca Mann

Folk music artist extraordinaire Rebacca Mann will be making her return for her second performance at the Markets. After a soothing and vibrant musical first performance, we simply had to have her back. She is also promoting the recent release of her latest album, Moon.
