A touch of femininity from Thelma Gillian Scarves

Handmade green and blue silk scarf by Old Bus Depot Markets stallhodler, Thelma GillianScarves are so beautiful and can add that extra touch of femininity to any outfit. And at this time of year, silk scarves from Thelma Gillian Scarves do just the trick.

Thelma creates a stunning range of scarves and wraps from her Canberra home, and at just five minutes away from the markets she’s a true local. All of Thelma’s creations are hand designed and made from silk, wool, cotton and polyester. She’s been creating for a very long time, having previously been a big lover of felting, but of late she loves hand painting silks with heliographic dyes. She dyes the silks outside in the sun and adds leaves and feathers onto the fabric. The sun’s UV rays fixes the colour to the silk and the imprint of the leaves and feathers remains, resulting in lovely individual designs, interesting colours and effects. She has many styles and a large range of colours available with mauves and blues being particularly popular.

You can find Thelma and her range of beautiful scarves and wraps at the markets every Sunday – your only problem will be making a choice.
