Granite Haven Llamas & Gotland Sheep

Overview

Granite Haven Llamas & Gotland Sheep houses a 300-acre farm situated in the Strathbogie ranges in Victoria. Owner Cheryl Crosbie decided for a niche product so Granite Haven Llamas now includes Gotland sheep. After a genetics program from Europe, they now have 430 Gotlands.

Gotland sheep are rare in Australia. They are truly a triple-purpose breed providing soft long lustrous staple with natural colours from silver grey to black and all the nuances in between. They are sold as raw fleece, in combed top, rovings, natural and dyed as well as soft natural coloured yarn. Art yarn as well as knitting kits with proven patterns are available. Trying the Gotland natural pearl coloured 8-ply yarn, including beanies and mitts, is recommended.

Gotland fur skins/pelts, aka sheep skins, are unique and provide enjoyment as a lifetime investment.

All products are bespoke and truly local. They are farmed and processed in Victoria.

Open days are held during the year. Spinners, felters, and knitters are welcome to visit the farm and make a purchase. Appointments can be made to organise farm visits. Groups are welcome.

The Granite Haven Llamas & Gotland Sheep Farm breeds for diversity, not uniformity.
