Camelot Mohair
Overview
Camelot was established in the 1970s, on their Sutton property, breeding Angora Goats who produced superfine luxury kid mohair. This was prior to the formation of the Angora Breed Society of Australia, of which Irene is a National Judge & National Classifier.
Owners Irene & Michelle then went on to expand the company by designing and handcrafting artisan one-of-a-kind mediaeval knitwear, and hand-woven coats and jackets. Designer pieces were supplied to specialty boutiques including Double Bay and Berrima. For many years, the work was successfully exhibited at the prestigious Australian Craft Shows and The Royal Agricultural Shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra.
Camelot Mohair is now selling their sought-after yarns previously exclusive to their designer pieces. Yarns are luxury, high quality natural fibres, mohair, merino wool, silk-merino & cashmere-merino. Yarns are hand-dyed in artisan small-batch lots at Wamboin, NSW.
Camelot Mohair has an extensive range of fantastic hand-painted & hand-dyed buttons, suitable for all craft applications with everything from hand-knits, weaving, felting, garments, coat/jackets, sewing applications, kids novelty, baby items, and jewellery-making.
