Market Entertainment: March 2018
We certainly hope you enjoyed the festive and kinetic performances from last month’s International Day. As the year rolls on, we keep rolling. We’re excited to bring in a number of touring talents like Yhan Leal who’s promoting his third album, and Kevin Laso who’s releasing his first.
Yhan first released his debut EP, Sail Home, in 2013. He then followed up with the ethereally haunting Wilderness in 2015, receiving critical acclaim. With music that can be described as post folk, Yhan’s new album, the eponymous Yhan Leal, was recorded between his home in Bellingen and in various Sydney studios with producer Ryan Miller.
Gaining popularity from playing a collection of covers and original singles around Camden NSW, Kevin Laso has grown into performing at all manner of events. Along with singing and playing the guitar, he invented his own percussive foot Cajon for accompaniment. His first album Earthlings is available now through his website.
FAY is a new music venture started by sisters and songwriters, Feili Zhang (based in Melbourne) and Feiya Zhang (Canberra). FAY will perform a number of original songs inspired by the Canberra landscape with influences from bands like Fleetwood Mac and Of Monsters and Men. Have a peek of their performance through their Soundcloud page.
