Market Entertainment: February 2018

Drum Assault will bring their award-winning performance of infectious West African beats to the Markets on International Day, 11 February. We’re also expecting a number of talented and kinetic performers on the day including swing dancing from Jumptown Swing and a lion dance from Canberra Prosperous Mountain Lion Dance to kick off Chinese New Year. Let’s end the Summer right.

Drum Assault

Drum Assault’s Dan Graetz, flew to Guinea, West Africa in the early 2000’s to learn drumming from the country’s best teachers. The group has since built a pedigree of performances from the National Multicultural Festival to the SBS Fifa World Cup Launch. Watch them play and dance to the beat this coming International Day, 11 February.

Jumptown Swing

Jumptown is one of Canberra’s biggest dancing communities. They’re a not-for-profit that’s inspired hundreds of students in Lindy Hop, and Balboa and Blues. A range of beginner’s classes are available.

Gemma Armarego

Welcome Gemma Armarego to the markets. This budding singer-songwriter currently juggles her creative expressions with university requirements. Already, she’s done a number of performances at local events and cafes. Many of her covers can be found on her YouTube channel.
