Market Entertainment: February 2019
How’s the first month of 2019 going for you? We hope it’s been a productive start to the year. After all, with the sweltering heat, it’s been hard to stay put. And you’ll certainly want to be up on your feet when you hear the music for the month.
International Crafts and Food on the 10th February will mark the annual return of Prosperous Mountain Dragon and Lion Dance, Drum Assault, and Bellyup Bellydance. The day will be quite the spectacle as the festive and vibrant music will do well to complement all the beautiful handcrafts and scrumptious food on the day. Then, at the end of the month we’re fortunate enough to have the ever-accomplished Inka Marka.
Prosperous Mountain Dragon and Lion Dance
With a brand new name (addition of “Dragon”), this one-of-a-kind troupe boasts all new choreography for their upcoming performance on International Crafts and Food. Their performance is certainly one that’s hard to miss as they the Markets bringing good fortune for another year. See both the lion and the dragon on the 10th February.
Also on the 10th is Drum Assault who never fails to deliver a kinetic and exciting performance. The group has a suite of notable performances such as for the SBS FIFA World Cup Launch and for the National Multicultural Festival. With their 10:30am performance, everyone in the vicinity will surely be awake if not dancing to the beat of their drums.
What can we expect from Inka Marka? They specialise in a music genre they describe as “Andes & Beyond.” We’re confident they’ll put on a remarkable performance, having performed in places the world over including thrice at the Canberra Multicultural Festival.
