Virtual Reality experiences draw a crowd at the Markets
Want to walk the plank from the edge of a ten-storey building? Explore underwater? Fly high in a hang glider? Try them all with Drone Flight Academy’s virtual reality experiences on offer at the Markets.
We’re always looking for ways to be innovative and refresh the Markets experience, and when we met Jeff Cotter from Drone Flight Academy we knew he’d be a good fit. Jeff is a game developer by profession and enjoys hang gliding in his spare time. He’s also a drone builder and flyer and teaches courses in Canberra on how people can learn to build and fly their own drones.
At the Markets, Jeff educates people about drones and his courses, with the virtual reality experiences thrown in for some added fun. And fun it is! Virtual Reality has been drawing a crowd and creating a real buzz each week. Visitors can pay $20 for a 15-minute experience of their choice – as well as the hang gliding, underwater exploration and the rather terrifying experience of walking a plank over a street scape from a ten-storey building, visitors can also choose to fly to the moon with Apollo 11. A large screen shows the user what they are experiencing in 3D depth with stereo sound. Jeff says people are often gobsmacked by how the VR experience makes them feel. The brain is completely convinced that the experience is real, no matter the amount of rationalisation.
Jeff is at the Markets most Sundays, unless teaching his drone courses which are every month or so. Have a chat to him about drones and try out the VR experience for yourself.
