Reminder: The Photography Room open now
If you’re interested in photography, our brand new addition to the markets, The Photography Room, is for you.
The Photography Room opened on Sunday 13 March, with over 200 people visiting the gallery on the first day. It features two spaces in the markets, which present works by a number of Canberra based artists, as well as photographers from around Australia, Europe and the USA. Gallery visitors have been vocal in their appreciation for the gallery’s presentation, beautiful fit-out and the great works of art that hang on the gallery walls.
This month, from 3-10 April you can catch an exhibition titled The Lake by local photographer Paul Jurak, aka Kayakcameraman. This exhibition will present a selection of photographs made from the vantage point of Paul’s kayak on Lake Burley Griffin from 2012 to present. Paul initially started paddling his kayak on the lake to help his recovery from cancer – early morning paddle sessions were his way of starting the day with his own personal space and tranquillity. And by creating his own blog to upload his beautiful photographs, he has grown quite the following.
Paul will be in the Solo Exhibition at The Photography Room from 12-1pm on Sunday 3 and Sunday 10 April, where he will deliver an artist’s talk and be available for discussion about his work. The Photography Room will be open during the markets on Sundays 10am-4pm and by appointment.
