Celebrate 20 years with us!
1994. It was the year that Muriel’s Wedding hit our big screens, Ian Kiernan won Australian of the Year, and the Canberra Raiders won the NRL Grand Final. It was also the year that saw the birth of another Canberra icon, the Old Bus Depot Markets. That’s right, this month Canberra’s favourite Sunday markets are celebrating their 20th birthday on Sunday 14 September.
The markets’ community, including our long time stallholders and many of our friends, will be coming together to mark the occasion and make the day a special one.
Some of our talented cooks are putting their creative baking skills to the test. Their delicious creations including a macaron tower, delicious cakes, profiterole tower, handmade chocolates and sorbets will be on display in our ‘Birthday Hub’. Make sure you stop by and pick out your favourite – because at 2pm we would love you to join us to blow out the candles and have a slice, piece, scoop or sample. There will also be free balloons for the kids, so don’t miss out on all the fun!
See our festive stallholders in their party hats, and a selection of our regular buskers performing throughout the day including the Guitar Cases, Guyy and The Fox, Amy & Ellen and The Funky Monkeys.
This will be a vibrant, fun and happy day at the markets. We hope to see many familiar faces as we celebrate 20 wonderful years as a Canberra Sunday tradition.
