Needle Felting Introductory Class with Tabandy Farm

In this two hour workshop, you will learn the basics of Needle Felting with Tabitha from Tabandy Farms.

This beginner’s class is welcome to both adults and children over the age of 10. All materials are included such as the necessary felting needle, foam, and wool needed to complete a three-dimensional character. Felting is the ancient art of making a wool fabric or sculpture with wool or fibre using heat, friction and/or water with soap. 

Additional Information:
  • This workshop will be held at the Old Bus Depot Markets
  • Beginners are welcome – no previous experience necessary.
  • Children need to be accompanied by an adult

 

ABOUT TABANDY FARM

Tabandy Farm specialises in homegrown wool and fibre for spinners, felters, weavers, textile artists and craftspeople. Their wool is grown from Licorice-all-sorts flock of rescued and pre-loved sheep, and they support Australian farmers of rare sheep breeds in the Bega Valley. 
 
Tabandy Farm offers expertise in choosing the right wool for your project. They also custom design and create beautiful clothing, accessories and home wares. They have been featured in River Cottage Australia and the Australian Permaculture Festival in Canberra.

Needle Felting with the ACT Textile Arts Association - 1pm-3pm

In this 2-hour workshop, you will learn how to repair moth holes in your favourite woollens and/or make a flower brooch or pin cushion using needle felting.

All materials will be supplied and is included in the ticket price. Bring woollen garments to repair and any wool rovings and felting needles if you have them. No previous experience required to repair garments or make a flower brooch with needle felting. Time permitting, a pin cushion can also be made.

Additional Information:

  • The workshop will be held in the office space above the ground level office. The stairs can be accessed in between the men's and women's restrooms
  • Warm clothing is advised
  • Beginners are welcome – no previous experience necessary
  • Participants under 16 years are to be accompanied by an adult

The ACTTAA is a textile group in Canberra where members enjoy doing a range of textiles. It meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 5.30 at the Seniors Club at Woden. Workshops and Play Days are organised where members learn new techniques and enjoy sharing new ideas.
