Weaving: Woven Textile Art with Fibre Artist Julianne Ehlert-Connor

In this two and half hour workshop, you will learn how to weave with a loom and use weaving tools to produce a beautiful woven wall hanging.

Woven Textile Art is a form of weaving which is highly textural, organic and can be intricate in design. Sydney-based Fibre Artist Julianne Ehlert-Connor from Fibre Art Australia will introduce you to weaving with a loom. You will be using various weaving tools during the workshop. Choosing from one of three colour fibre packs, you will be taught the skills you need to get started on your loom. Many of the weaving techniques will show how to use natural fibre (wool and alpaca) to create volume and texture in your weaving. You will use the fibre to create more than just a weaving. You leave with a piece of Woven Textile Art that you will be proud to display.

What participants will be learning: How to use a loom and weaving tools. Participants will also learn a range of weaving techniques and ways of using wool and fibre to create texture and designs in their weavings.

Materials included: A wooden loom and a fibre pack. This includes natural fibre such as woollen yarn, alpaca yarn and woollen roving with some hand-dyed by Julianne. Plus, take home a Beginner's Guide to Weaving written by Julianne. It includes detailed instructions with step by step photos of the techniques taught during the workshop.
