Crochet w/ Love: 100% Natural Fibre Granny Squares by Frances Carleton

In this two-hour crochet workshop, you’ll be provided with everything you need to start crocheting a 100% natural fibre Granny Squares. You'll have a choice of colours.

Learn the basics of crochet with Frances from Crocheted w/Love. From casting on, chain stitch, double crochet, granny clusters, and finishing. You’ll learn a range of stitches that will put you on the path to a lifetime of crochet.  This design is a classic and once you’ve mastered it can move on to many other stitches and designs.
 
A kit with all the necessary materials for the workshop will be provided (value approx $50). Each kit includes fibre, hook, and handouts which will include the pattern to take home.
 

Additional Information:

  • The workshop will be held in the office space above the ground level office. The stairs can be accessed in between the men's and women's restrooms
  • Warm clothing is advised
  • Beginners are welcome – no previous experience necessary.
  • Participants will be provided with some information on the history of crochet, and a list of resources so they can continue to crochet – and make almost anything once the basics taught in this class are mastered!
  • A minimum of 6 participants are required for the class to run.
  • Participants under 16 years are to be accompanied by an adult

Frances from Crocheted w/Love creates a unique range of hand crocheted items, made from only premium natural fibers, such as wool, merino, yak, alpaca, cashmere, cotton, and llama down.

No patterns are used and every item is a one-off, never to be repeated. As such, each item is unique and has a name, just like a work of art.

Needle Felting with the ACT Textile Arts Association - 1pm-3pm

In this 2-hour workshop, you will learn how to repair moth holes in your favourite woollens and/or make a flower brooch or pin cushion using needle felting.

All materials will be supplied and is included in the ticket price. Bring woollen garments to repair and any wool rovings and felting needles if you have them. No previous experience required to repair garments or make a flower brooch with needle felting. Time permitting, a pin cushion can also be made.

The ACTTAA is a textile group in Canberra where members enjoy doing a range of textiles. It meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 5.30 at the Seniors Club at Woden. Workshops and Play Days are organised where members learn new techniques and enjoy sharing new ideas.

In this two and a half hour workshop you will learn several basic macrame knots - handy for making all kinds of home decor items and accessories.

You will take home a beautiful plant hanger of your own design. All materials are included. Each participant will walk home with their own macrame pot hanger made from 100% cotton.
