In this two and a half hour workshop you will learn several basic macrame knots - handy for making all kinds of home decor items and accessories.

You will take home a beautiful plant hanger of your own design. All materials are included. Each participant will walk home with their own macrame pot hanger made from 100% cotton.

‘Weave a Woven Wall Hanging with Fibre Artist Julianne Ehlert-Connor.

"Create a beautiful Weaving for yourself or create a Christmas Gift for someone special and learn a new skill"

In this two and half hour workshop, you will learn how to weave with a loom and use weaving tools to produce a beautiful woven wall hanging prefect for a Christmas gift. 

Woven Textile Art is a form of weaving which is highly textural, organic and can be intricate in design. Sydney-based Fibre Artist Julianne Ehlert-Connor from Fibre Art Australia will introduce you to weaving with a loom. You will be using various weaving tools during the workshop. Choosing from one of three colour fibre packs, you will be taught the skills you need to get started on your loom. Many of the weaving techniques will show how to use natural fibre (wool and alpaca) to create volume and texture in your weaving. You will use the fibre to create more than just a weaving. You leave with a piece of Woven Textile Art that you will be proud to display.

What participants will be learning: How to use a loom and weaving tools. Participants will also learn a range of weaving techniques and ways of using wool and fibre to create texture and designs in their weavings.

Materials included: A wooden loom and a fibre pack. This includes natural fibre such as woollen yarn, alpaca yarn and woollen roving with some hand-dyed by Julianne. Plus, take home a Beginner's Guide to Weaving written by Julianne. It includes detailed instructions with step by step photos of the techniques taught during the workshop.

Many of her pieces are influenced by the colours and contrasts of the Australian landscape.

Wet Felt: Felting a Pair of Tabandy Funky Wool Boots

In this two and half hour workshop, you will learn how to turn a two-dimensional pattern into a three-dimensional Pair of Funky Wool Boots for winter hosted by Tabitha from Tabandy Farm.

This innovative class welcomes people of all ages. All materials are included such as the Boot pattern, wool, grippy mat, boot molds (your own feet), and soap. Felting is the ancient art of making a wool fabric or sculpture with wool or fibre using heat, friction and/or water with soap.

Rug Punch Embroidery by Feltfine

In this two-hour workshop, participants will learn how to do rug punch embroidery (aka punch needling) with the Amy Oxford Rug Punch Tool. They will learn how to plan a design, select the best yarn for their design and how to rug punch.

Rug Punch Embroidery is a fun craft for people of all ages. An age-old craft, punch needling has seen a recent rise in popularity. Rug punching is an easy skill to learn and results in near instant gratification. All you need is a rug punch tool, yarn, and backing fabric stretched across a frame. It's like colour-by-number for yarn!

Participants will receive a 20cm x 20cm frame with backing fabric attached and have a selection of yarns to use for their project. For the duration of the workshop, participants will use an Amy Oxford Rug Punch Tool, which will be available for separate purchase from the FeltFine market stall.

Fabulous Felted Flower Brooch by Creative Silk

In this two-hour workshop, participants will learn how to layout wool onto silk and the process of wet felting.

Lynne Sanders is a permanent stallholder and has attended the Old Bus Depot Markets since its inception in 1994. She is a silk painter, machine embroiderer and has been felting for over 15 years. She is deeply passionate about the combination of fine silks with merino wool and uses them extensively in her work as well as silk  and other exotic fibres
