A Taste of Weaving with Elizabeth Calnan

In this three-hour workshop, participants will have an opportunity to weave on a simple table loom, the new Louet Erica.

All equipment and yarn are supplied. Participants will see a demonstration of warping. Everyone will put a warp on their loom, thread, sley, tie it on, then weave a small piece. 

Participants are able to take home their woven pieces.

Additional Information:

  • The workshop is being held in the Fitters Workshop – adjacent to the Old Bus Depot Markets (inside the Former Transport Depot building), overlooking Brodburger and the Canberra Glassworks.
  • Beginners are welcome – no previous experience necessary.

ABOUT LIZ

Liz from Elizabeth Calnan Textiles has been weaving and teaching for 35 years. She’s also been selling looms and spinning wheels for the last 7 years. 

Liz makes an effort to weave everyday and enjoys inspiring new weavers. She believes weaving is challenging to design, keeps the mind alive, and satisfies the creative spirit when a new piece is taken off the loom.

Several talents are also scheduled throughout the month including Accidental Luddites, Guyy and the Fox, and Jazzy Jumpers who are fundraising for their upcoming competition in the States.
