A Taste of Weaving with Elizabeth Calnan
May 20 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm40$
In this three-hour workshop, participants will have an opportunity to weave on a simple table loom, the new Louet Erica.
All equipment and yarn are supplied. Participants will see a demonstration of warping. Everyone will put a warp on their loom, thread, sley, tie it on, then weave a small piece.
Participants are able to take home their woven pieces.
- The workshop is being held in the Fitters Workshop – adjacent to the Old Bus Depot Markets (inside the Former Transport Depot building), overlooking Brodburger and the Canberra Glassworks.
- Beginners are welcome – no previous experience necessary.
Liz from Elizabeth Calnan Textiles has been weaving and teaching for 35 years. She’s also been selling looms and spinning wheels for the last 7 years.
Liz makes an effort to weave everyday and enjoys inspiring new weavers. She believes weaving is challenging to design, keeps the mind alive, and satisfies the creative spirit when a new piece is taken off the loom.
