Street food is the star at The Slab

The Slab at the Old Bus Depot MarketsWho doesn’t love great street food? Seeing the foodies set up, prep and cook the food right there in front of you. And the smells…oh the smells! It sure gets you hungry and ready to taste.

This weekend, Sunday 13 September, we’re launching the markets’ very own brand new pop up street food area, The Slab. And we can’t wait to wow you with some seriously good food.

Q. What’s The Slab?
A. Our new pop up street food area.

Q. Where is The Slab?
A. The markets spills outside to a sun drenched area that has a real history – it’s the large concrete ‘slab’ at the back of the building, towards the lakeside, which was formerly home to the Walter Burley Griffin Antique Centre.

Q. Why The Slab?
A. It’s the perfect area to gather more food offerings to the market, and introduce visitors to some great new eats. The food will complement the markets’ existing food offerings, and we’ve been very selective to get the food mix right.

Q. What can I eat there?
A. The street food mix will change frequently with something for everyone – think gourmet sausages, handmade toasted sandwiches, hot potatoes cooked on a stick and seasoned, and a modern, fresh take on Thai cuisine.

Q. When is The Slab?
A. The Slab will present delicious new food from this coming Sunday, Sunday 13 September. And you can then find it every Sunday from now on.
