February brings International Day to the markets

International Day at the Old Bus Depot MarketsThis month we’re celebrating Canberra’s rich and multicultural community at International Day.

Come in and see us on Sunday 1 February to explore the many cultures which call the nation’s capital home. Your tastebuds will be thanking you with an array of delicious multicultural foods from Spain, Laos, Ethiopia, France and Mexico, and your toes will be tapping to local ethnic and dance groups performing traditional dances. This is also the day that you can browse from a great range of handcrafted gifts made from all around the globe including Indian block print textiles, Turkish towels and Ottoman jewellery, Italian plates, traditional Turkish oya lace, handcrafted stone and wire sculptures from Zimbabwe, Indonesian trays, bowls, textiles and baskets, handwoven Pakistani and Kashmiri scarves, pashmina and blankets, and shea butter from the shea tree in Ghana.

The day will be packed with international themed entertainment including Argentine Tango dancers, India Dance Group Asparas Arts, African drumming by Drum Effect, and the Filipino String Ensemble Rondalla. Come and ‘travel the world’ with us at the markets, Sunday 1 February.
