Christmas Trading Information and Expression of Interest 2016
Expressions of interest for Christmas Trading at the Old Bus Depot Markets are open to registered stallholders who have already participated at the markets. This is not a stallholder application form and no new applications will be assessed using this form. Please phone us to make an appointment if you wish to make a new stall application (02) 6295 3331, Tuesday – Thursday or you can apply to be a stallholder online.
Please read the following 2016 Christmas Trading Information thoroughly before completing the online 2016 Christmas Trading Application Form at the bottom of this page. We will continue to take expressions of interest throughout the months of September, October, November and December and will allocate stalls according to availability.
All casual stallholders at the Old Bus Depot Markets are required to complete our 2016 Christmas Trading Application Form for November/December trading 2016. (“Casual stallholders” are defined as stallholders who have not been assigned a regular stall in the market each Sunday).
There are five areas in which casual stallholders may be located:
- The upper level of the Bus Depot Building
- The lower levels of the Bus Depot Building
- The Foreshore Space
- The Fitters’ Workshop
- Outdoors in the courtyard at the city end of the building
If you are assigned an indoor location, you may be sited in any of the first four locations.
If demand for stalls is significant, as it has been in previous years, we may not be able to offer you all the market dates for which you apply. However, you will be placed on a waiting list for the dates we cannot offer initially and we will do our very best to offer you those dates at a later stage. It is expected that there will be considerable movement on the waiting list leading up to Christmas, so being wait-listed is certainly worthwhile!
2016 Fee Structure
The fee for November markets is $95. Bookings are now open for November markets. You do not need to fill in a form. Payment is required at time of booking.
The below fee structure for December trading 2016 is based on the number of markets stallholders have attended during the year January – October 2016.
|NUMBER OF MARKETS ATTENDED||STALL FEE (GST INCLUSIVE)|
|More than 20 markets||$107.00|
|20 or less||$117.00|
Booking and Payment of Stalls
Casual stallholders must pay in advance for confirmed bookings (whether indoor or outdoor). All December bookings must be paid by Thursday 17th November 2016. Failure to make timely payment will result in cancellation of your bookings and your stall will be allocated to someone on the waiting list. There are no exceptions to this policy (including those stallholders who see themselves as ‘regular casuals’ throughout the year).
Please note a 1% surcharge will apply for payments made via Visa or Mastercard (no charge for debit card).
Confirmation of Christmas Markets
- You will receive email confirmation of your allocated trading dates (please allow approximately 10 business days).
- You must acknowledge receipt of your allocated dates by return email.
- We will then book in your Christmas markets.
Any enquiries can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Multicultural, Collectables and Bling Sunday Markets
For stallholders currently participating in “Multicultural”, “Collectables” and “Bling Sunday Jewellery” markets, we offer the following:
|MULTICULTURAL TRADING DATES||BLING SUNDAY TRADING DATES||COLLECTABLES TRADING DATES|
|Saturday 3rd December||Saturday 10th December||Saturday 17th December|
|Sunday 4th December||Sunday 11th December||Sunday 18th December|
Pre-allocated Sunday Stallholders
If you are a stallholder who trades on an allocated Sunday each month, then you may not apply for any dates other than your allocated Sunday(s).
Loading and Offloading Goods
Indoor stallholders must offload and remove vehicles from the courtyard by 8:15am.
The city end of the building is always congested during our busy Christmas period. Please arrive early, offload your stock quickly and then move your vehicle to the stallholder car park. Do not set up your stall while your car is still in the courtyard. A better option is to drive directly to the stallholder car park at the rear of the building and offload there.
Marshalls will be on site to ensure smooth off-loading of vehicles on some Sundays. At this busy time of the year, they will not allow stallholders into the outdoor courtyard to offload after 8:00am. Please treat them with courtesy.
Wet Weather Leaks
We are housed in a glorious, old and historic building. However, in very heavy rain the roof can leak. We encourage you to always bring a cover or tarpaulin to protect your stock. We cannot take responsibility for any damage to your products.
Outdoor stall set-up commences from 8:30am.
We will again be using the large courtyard at the north-western end of the building. This area has excellent access from both the indoor market area and the 400-space car park off Eastlake Drive and occupies the space between the highly-acclaimed Canberra Glassworks and the front entrance of the market. If you are willing to be placed in an outdoor stall, you will be offered all the markets for which you apply.
We suggest a contingency plan for inclement or windy weather: a tarpaulin or plastic cover is one method of protecting your products. Sun protection is recommended, and as canopies and umbrellas cannot be anchored into the concrete surface you will need a safe weighting system for windy conditions. You will not be allowed to trade unless you have a safe weighting system.
Rain Policy – Outdoor Stalls
In the event of rain, we will decide by 8:30am on Sunday whether or not to proceed with outdoor stalls. In this circumstance, stallholders will receive a full refund. If rain occurs part way through the day (that is, any time after 8:30am) no refunds will be made.
Christmas Cancellation Policy
During the Christmas period, cancellations must be made five days prior to the market you would like to cancel. If you cancel by the Tuesday before your market date we will offer you a credit for another market. Please note we do not refund fees.
Stallholder Car Parking
There is a large stallholder car park adjacent to the Powerhouse and the market building. Please park behind the historic hoarding boards or in the large car park between the market building and the lake. Stallholders must not park in the median strip in Wentworth Avenue, near the church. This parking area is for the public – your customers!
If you are trading on both Saturday and Sunday in December, you may leave your stall set up overnight for a security charge of $15. If you choose not to use overnight security, you will need to pack up everything on your stall, including your trestle table.
If you need to change your stall location from Saturday to Sunday, provision can be made for you to set up in your Sunday location following the market on Saturday afternoon (an overnight security charge will apply).
